Experience
In this role, my responsibilities included devising lesson plans, and running weekly summer camps for an 8 week period. Being the only virtual sensei, I was responsible for all of the virtual programming over the summer. During the weekly camps, I would teach ~15 students aged 6-11 the fundamentals of programming using a software called Scratch. This included concepts such as variable assignment, iteration, control statements, and object oriented programming.
In this internship I was paired with a mentor at Module Design and I scoped out, planned, and executed a project, my personal website. The internship was divided into a learning portion and a project portion, where I had to set and meet my own deadlines. The learning portion included the basics of HTML, CSS, and Javascript, and for this project, I specifically implemented it using flexbox. The project portion consisted of me creating my deadlines and hashing out which sections had the highest priority. Throughout the entire process I met with my mentor to ask guiding questions weekly, but the project’s execution and design was independently my process.
